“According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, baccalaureate generalist nurses are members of and advocates for the profession, which implies that undergraduate baccalaureate nursing education includes “the formation of a professional identity.”1 Professional identity is an individual’s definition of how he or she fits into his or her chosen field. For nurses, the definition of professional identity lies in the answer to this question: “What does it mean for me to be a nurse?”
